Cheers!

Glad you liked it! How far have you gotten? An OSX compilation would be very helpful - please e-mail it to me at darrenjohngrey (adventurer) hotmail (floor tile) com.

Trapper is fantastic! So far, my favourite of the 7DRLs this year. I've compiled it for OS X (intel) and can send you an executable if you like. I think I can make a PowerPC version for older Macs, too, if you like, but I'm not a FreePascal user so I'll need to browse the documentation to figure out how to target a different architecture.

Anyhoo, you did a great job on it. I think I recall playing Gruesome a bit, too, a while back and having a pretty good time.

When I run this on my Mac, this takes up 100% of the CPU waiting for keys to be pressed. I'm pretty unfamiliar with pascal, but it seems if you comment out line 1733 "repeat until KeyPressed;" then the game still works and doesn't waste CPU cycles.

admin :Effort was of course worth it, Joe, and I will keep the project up in future. My only regret is not having more time to work on it, since it was both fun and informative.
Eric, not sure how useful the code is as a library, but go ahead and use it if you like. I think it will likely serve others better as “example code” to look at, rather than real code to use, since not all of it is perfect. Could be a basis for better stuff though.

thank's, I will be splitting it into different units to make alot if it independent from the graphics..

I was looking at this and thought it would be a good program to take apart and turn into a library maybe or at least break into units for practice.. (at least some of it)... I am not done yet but I did add it to some more free pascal text routines that I have been saving.
